The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat in Suva, Fiji has appointed a new Non-State Actor (NSA) Liaison Officer. He is Mr David Chung Hesaie from Fiji.
“Forum Leaders, when they endorsed the Pacific Plan, recognised the important role that Non-State Actors play in support of regional integration and cooperation,” said Feleti Teo, Acting Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.
“The Forum Secretariat has continued to engage with Non State Actors in the past, but the appointment of the NSA Liaison Officer within the Pacific Plan Office at the Forum Secretariat is an opportunity to strengthen this relationship,” said Mr Teo.
The NSA Liaison Officer will be responsible to the Pacific Plan Office Executive Officer for assisting in coordinating Non State Actor engagement with Forum processes and work programmes, including the implementation of and reporting on the Pacific Plan.
Mr Hesaie joins the Forum Secretariat from the Pacific Youth Council on the Youth Employment Advocacy Initiative, a project which was about engaging Forum Leaders through the Secretariat. He previously served as Senior Governance Programme Officer for the Foundation of the Peoples of the South Pacific International (FSPI).
Mr Hesaie holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Tourism and Geography from the University of the South Pacific in Suva, Fiji.
