Regional Policy Forum – Tackling Sustainable Development in the Pacific through Sport

June 22, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 2:00 pm

This year PIFS will host the first of a series of policy forums building on the ‘Blue Pacific’ narrative around our shared identity, geography and resources. The theme for this first policy forum is ‘Tackling Sustainable Development in the Pacific through Sport’. Sport and physical activity in the Pacific demonstrate our shared identity, which becomes necessary as a point of collective action when tackling and addressing the global sustainable development goals (SDGs).
The regional policy forum coincides with the inaugural SHAPING UP: Pacific Research Symposium on Sport and Sustainable Development hosted by The University of the South Pacific in partnership with PIFS and ONOC. The outcomes of the research symposium will be tabled during the policy forum to capture the latest international and regional developments in research across sport, physical activity and physical education to inform regional policy dialogue and maximise the contribution of sport to sustainable development in the Pacific.
This policy forum supported through the EU funded “Strengthening Non-State Actors Engagement in Regional Policy Development and Implementation Programme” and will be hosted at the USP Faculty of Business and Economics Lecture Hall from 9.30am – 2pm on Friday 22nd June 2018.
