Trade in the region

Bilateral trade with all Forum Members in 2014 amounted to USD 2.06 billion, over half comprised trade with Australia and New Zealand alone.



 

From 2010 – 2014, Philippine imports to the region averaged an annual growth rate of 8.14%, and exports to the Philippines showed a decrease of approximately 5.07%. The Philippines’ investment in regional fisheries is strengthening; it has established six tuna fishing and processing businesses in the PNG to date.

United Nations

The Philippines and Forum Members have cooperated and supported each other’s candidatures in the UN system, e.g Philippines bid for UN Security Council membership for 2004-5.

The Philippines were elected onto the Human Rights Council for a three-year term beginning in 2016
