The Honourable Prime Minister of Fiji, Laisenia Qarase, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, Representatives of ProInvest, Distinguished Guests, Resource Persons and Participants, Ladies and Gentlemen. It is my privilege to join the Prime Minister and the others to welcome you all to Denarau for the Profit in the Pacific Tourism Investment Conference. Your presence here today is clearly a demonstration of your interest in working with the Pacific ACP States on a key component of their economic development process – investment. And, of course, we are speaking of investment in a sector that is widely accepted and documented as one that has enormous potential for the entire region – tourism
