Secretary General congratulates President Remengesau on his re-election in Palau

Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum, Dame Meg Taylor, has written to congratulate Tommy E. Remengesau Jr. after being re-elected as the President of Palau.
“Palau is a recognised leader in critical and important areas for the Pacific Islands Forum,” wrote Dame Meg.

“This is evidenced by the 2014 Leaders endorsement of the Palau Declaration on ‘The Ocean: Life & Future’, your work in fisheries and climate change, and as a stable democracy.”

“Palau is special for me because it is where you, as Forum Chair, together with your colleagues, entrusted me with the responsibility to be your Secretary General, a role I take very seriously.”

President Remengesau Jr. was re-elected for his fourth term as President of Palau last week.

The Secretary General assured the President of the ongoing support of the Forum Secretariat saying, “we will continue to assist your government across the economic, sustainable development, governance, and security realms to support the Forum Leaders’ vision of a region of peace, harmony, social inclusion and security.”
