Visit to Japan by Hon. Toke Tufukia Talagi, Chair of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF)
Hon. Toke Tufukia Talagi, Chair of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), will visit Japan from March 2 (Mon) to 6 (Fri) at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
During his stay in Japan, Hon Talagi will have talks with Prime Minister Taro Aso and other Government officials to exchange views on the Fifth Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM 5) to be held in May 2009 in Hokkaido. He will also give a lecture at the Japan National Press Club in the afternoon of March 5.
PALM 5 will be co-chaired by PIF Chair Talagi and the Prime Minister of Japan. It is expected that the chair’s visit will further strengthen the friendly relations between Japan and the PIF and will lead to the success of PALM 5.
