Forum Regional Security Committee Meeting
The 2008 Forum Regional Security Committee (FRSC) Meeting will he held at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat in Suva, Fiji on 5-6 June. The 2008 FRSC will be chaired by New Zealand.
Official representatives of Forum Islands Countries are likely to discuss a wide range of matters including but not limited to Transnational Crime, Counter Terrorism, Border Management, Money Laundering, Human Security Issues, Land Management, and contemporary political and security challenges in the region.
Preceding the FRSC, a UNODC Sub-Regional Consultation Workshop on measures for the legislative implementation of the legal regime against terrorism in the Pacific region and related technical assistance delivery will be held on 2-3 June. The workshop will be followed by a Counter Terrorism Working Group Meeting on 4 June to be jointly chaired by New Zealand and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat. A pre-FRSC track II dialogue meeting supported by UNDP Pacific Centre will be held on the afternoon of 4 June. This meeting will bring together government officials and civil society representatives to discuss human security and conflict prevention in the region.
