12th July 2008 FORUM MINISTERIAL CONTACT GROUP ON FIJI TO MEET WITH FIJI INTERIM GOVERNMENT The Pacific Islands Forum Ministerial Contact Group on Fiji will meet with representatives of the Fiji Interim Government on Tuesday 15th July in Suva, Fiji. The Group comprises Ministers from Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga and Tuvalu. The Forum Foreign Affairs Ministers’ meeting in Auckland, New Zealand on 26th March this year established the Ministerial Contact Group “to further monitor the progress of Fiji’s preparations for the election and the return to democracy”. In line with this direction the Interim Government and the Ministers will discuss the progress of Fiji’s election preparations and related issues. The Ministerial Contact Group will provide a report to the Forum Leaders in preparation for their 39th annual meeting, which is to be held in Niue in August.
