The Working Group held its third meeting at the Forum Secretariat Headquarters in Suva on 26 April 2007, attended by senior officials from Australia, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Republic of the Marshall Islands and Tuvalu.

The Working Group considered a list of potential candidates to conduct the Independent Technical Assessment of the Election Timetable for Fiji, and agreed on recommendations which will be referred to member governments for approval prior to the next meeting.  The Working Group agreed that preparations for the study should commence as soon as possible.
The Working Group received a briefing from Fiji on the outcomes of its consultations with the EU in relation to the Cotonou Agreement.
The Working Group further discussed the standing issues (the restoration of civilian rule, upholding the 1997 Constitution, the cessation of human rights abuses and addressing allegations of abuse, and support for a credible and independent anti-corruption commission).

The Working Group will hold its next meeting on 3 May 2007.
