Trading Up! Supporting Pacific Niche Exports

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is producing the regional report on Aid for Trade in Asia and the Pacific for the WTO Global Review on Aid for Trade (AfT). The report will include a special in-depth section on the Pacific. The Pacific section will follow the same themes as the overall report (AfT’s role in reducing trade costs), but with additional analysis around the potential for the digital economy to tackle trade costs and promote niche product development.
In line with this, ADB will organize a one-day meeting with Pacific exporters, along with its partners:

The objectives of the meeting will be as follows:

  1. To understand the dynamics of successful exporter development in the Pacific;
  2. To show how/if AfT projects have contributed to reductions in trade costs; and
  3. To contribute to private sector understanding of the ADB Trade Finance program.

Event Description:

The event is a Pacific exporters meeting entitled “Trading Up! Supporting Pacific Niche Exports” that will be held on 29 April 2015 at the PIFS office in Suva, Fiji. The meeting will bring in experts in trade finance, marketing, and digital commerce to talk about the frontier of niche product development to a diverse audience of about 40 successful exporters from all over the Pacific region.
