MEDIA YOUNG PROFESSIONAL In recognition of the need to foster the development of young people with policy skills within the region, the need to scale up human resources required for our strengthened policy mandates and the associated effective implementation of the Pacific Plan, the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat is looking for a highly motivated and qualified individual to be attached to the Pacific Plan/ Strategic Partnerships Programme as the Media Young Professional. The successful applicant will be placed in a full-time internship for a period of no less than six months and no longer than 24 months. Eligibility: To be eligible, applicants should be: - Nationals of Forum Islands Countries; - No more than 30 years of age; - Fluent in spoken and written English; - In an early stage of their career or holders of public office if they are professional applicants; - Able to work fairly independently and demonstrate initiative and flexibility with strong team-working capacity in a multi-cultural environment; - Familiar with the standard features of word processing programs and be competent in MS Excel and HTML documents/ Internet web sites. *Please note that relatives of PIFS staff are NOT eligible to apply Essential: Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications: - Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Communications; Journalism or Media Studies; - Knowledge of the Pacific Plan and the Pacific Islands Forum; - Knowledge of regional media issues and trends; - Strong research skills. Remuneration: Please note the position is not for employment purposes but is aimed at helping further develop regional capacity. The successful intern will be paid a monthly allowance to help with living expenses. Where necessary, airfares will be covered by PIFS.
