TRADE REPRESENTATIVE The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the position of Trade Representative to head the Pacific Islands Forum Trade Office in Beijing, China. The Trade Representative will be accountable to the Secretary General through the overall management of the Director of the Economic Governance Programme. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing appropriate market support to Forum Island Countries governments and private sector, to promote and strengthen cooperation between the region and the People’s Republic of China in economic, trade, investment and tourism development. The Trade Representative will also be expected to provide a range of services to FIC companies and organisations that include market research, facilitating product promotions and trade exhibitions, coordinating investment missions, assisting with product development initiatives and facilitating other business development activities in order to improve the export potential of the region’s private sector. The accountabilities for the position will be: - Managing People; - Investment Development; - Tourism Development; - Export Development and - Finance and Administration Applicants will need to possess post graduate qualifications in business, marketing or financial management; credentials of diplomatic training and project management will certainly be an advantage. In addition, it would be essential to have vast knowledge of Pacific Islands businesses, be well versed with supply chain management, creative marketing strategy, investment promotion, public relations and speaking, accountancy management and strategy planning.
