The Secretariat seeks a suitably qualified and experienced person to work as Trade Facilitation Officer who will be accountable for:

• Managing the Regional Trade Facilitation Programme [RTFP] under the Pacific Agreement on Closer Economic Relations (PACER)
• The facilitation of Trade Forum and Related Meetings such as the Steering Committee meetings and Informal meetings
• The interpretation of relevant Regional and Bilateral Trade Agreements that the Forum Members are part of
• Liaison with national and regional organisations dealing with Customs, Quarantine and Standard and Conformance activities.

Applicants should have an advanced tertiary qualification in international trade, economics or appropriate discipline with substantial relevant experience. They should have sound knowledge of trade facilitation issues and a good knowledge of either Customs or Quarantine or Standards & Conformance strategic issues for FICs. Interested persons should have an awareness of regional trends in multilateral trade and familiarity with regional, sub-regional and bilateral trade agreements, a good understanding of issues and problems facing Forum Islands Countries in relation to the promotion of trade and investment. Having the ability to work with other professionals with minimal direction and to tight deadlines will be of advantage to applicants. Applicants must be willing to travel economy class.

The appointment will carry a competitive remuneration and benefits package including medical and life insurance. The starting salary for the position is approximately SDR21,530 which is equivalent to around FJD54,603. For non-Fijian nationals, this salary may be tax-free.
