TRADE COMMISSIONER

The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the position of Trade Commissioner at the Pacific Islands Trade and Investment Commission (PITIC) in Sydney, Australia.

The Trade Commissioner will be accountable to the Secretary General through the overall management of the Director, Economic Governance, Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.

The Trade Commissioner will be the point of contact to the public in providing cost effective client-driven services and market support in Australia and for 14 Pacific Forum Island Countries as well as to the Pacific French Territories. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing advice and assistance in the development of exports, the promotion of foreign investment and tourism and cost effective import procurement for the Forum Island Countries and the French Territories.

The successful applicant will need to possess an appropriate degree either in business studies, business administration, management or international marketing with relevant years of experience. A proven knowledge and understanding of global and regional social and economic issues and conditions will certainly be an advantage.
