SENIOR TECHNICAL ADVISER (EC)

The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) is seeking to recruit a Senior Technical Adviser (EC) under the European Development Fund (EDF 9).

This position will support the Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat in his role as Regional Authorising Officer (RAO). The primary responsibility of the Senior Technical Adviser (EC) is to ensure the smooth implementation and coordination of the Pacific Regional Indicative Programme (PRIP), to advise the RAO on policy issues related to the European Development Fund, and in general, to promote and enhance development cooperation between the Pacific ACP region and the European union.

Leading a highly focused team and reporting to the Deputy Secretary General (SGG), the Senior Technical Adviser (EC) responsibilities will also include analysing programmes, coordinating project formulation and design, facilitating EDF administration and the effective management of the TA to RAO II project and staff.

Applicants will need to have an advance degree in economics or related discipline with at least over 5 years experience of development assistance. Experience in the identification, appraisal and implementation of EDF funded programmes. Proven management experience with good judgment and a high level of technical competency in EDF rules and procedures would be an advantage.

The salary range is SDR31,090 to SDR46,635 depending on experience. Benefits include housing, education and home leave entitlements as well as generous life and medical insurance provisions. The contract for this position will expire on 31 December 2009.
