The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) seeks a qualified and experienced person to fill the position of Economic Infrastructure Adviser.

This purpose of this job exists to provide advisory services to the members on matters related to Infrastructure including, but not limited to Transport, ICTs, Water and Waste Services. The Economic Infrastructure Adviser will be responsible to the Director, Economic Governance for responsibilities that include:
• economic analysis of regional and country infrastructure sector;
• the development and promoting of regional and country infrastructure sector policies and advice;
• ensuring integration of infrastructure policies with other sector policies e.g., ICTs and Education, Transport and Trade.
• The monitoring and harmonizing of regional and international infrastructure initiatives including donor project coordination.

Applicants must have postgraduate qualifications in any or a combination of disciplines such as Economics, Engineering Science or Law with substantial experience in one or more infrastructure areas. Relevant experience in national or regional bodies with responsibilities for infrastructure policy would be beneficial. Proven experience with good judgment, technical/professional expertise and strategic perspective tactics will be key attributes considered in the selection process.

The starting salary for this position is expected to be SDR31, 090. Using the May 2008 exchange rate this is equivalent to approximately FJD$76,089. Benefits include housing, education and home leave entitlements as well as generous life and medical insurance provisions depending on experience.
