The Secretariat seeks a suitably qualified and experienced person to work as Development Cooperation Adviser.The Development Cooperation Adviser will be accountable to the Deputy Secretary General in charge of the Strategic Partnerships & Coordination Programme and responsibilities will include: • effective coordination of donors and development partners efforts and programmes to address members’ development challenges; • facilitation of development cooperation among Forum members with their development partners through the provision of policy advice on donor relations and aid effectiveness; • operation and management of funding facilities within the programme and coordination of the donor’s regional programmes; and • evaluation of the effectiveness of development partner and donor development assistance programmes. Applicants should have an advanced university degree in development economics, international relations or other relevant discipline with substantial relevant work experience in dealing with development cooperation issues and donor-recipient relations preferably in Pacific Island Countries, small island developing states or a similar environment. Applicants must also demonstrate the ability to analyse donor policies and procedures and identify policy and operational implications, be familiar with donor government and agency procedures and an understanding of broader development and sectoral issues. The ability to manage defined work programme activities, work well with a small team will be beneficial. Applicants must have excellent computer skills and must be willing to travel economy class within and outside the region. The appointment will carry a competitive remuneration and benefits package including medical and life insurance. The starting salary for the position is approximately SDR31,090. According to the exchange rate used in November 2008, this was equivalent to around FJD82,995. For non-Fijian nationals, this salary may be tax-free.
